Please tell us the year established and brief history Bluehost.com? Bluehost started in December of 2003. We started 0catch.com which is a free host company in 2001. We saw that there was a good opportunity to provide a high quality paid only hosting offer which is how Bluehost started.
What do you offer your customers that are unique to your company? I think it is important for everyone to realize that we did not want to be just another Hosting company. We spoke with the largest hosting review companies at the Time and asked them what we needed to do to stand out in the crowd. We started By making sure our offering was better than everyone else. We allow you to host up to 6 domains on 1 account. We also realized that incorporating SSH (Secure Shell) access into our plan would set us apart. Rob Brown our head programmer secured some of the security holes in CPanel that other hosts have not been able to do. The biggest difference however is our incredible support staff. We start with a courtesy call when someone signs up to welcome them to Bluehost and to answer any initial questions. We go the extra mile when it comes to support.
What is the most challenging aspect to offering one hosting plan? There are challenges whether you offer 1 plan or 20 plans. There are always special cases where someone needs more bandwidth or more database connections etc. We try to make sure every customer has the tools and resources they need for their experience with Bluehost to be positive and that can sometimes be challenging.
What is it that makes Bluehost.com a competitive company in the Budget Hosting market? We have an aggressive affiliate program, we offer industry leading support and we have an incredible offering for the price.
What new features have Bluehost.com added for its customers in the past year? We are constantly improving our offering. Over the past year we have worked on reducing the amount of incoming and outgoing spam. We have updated our bandwidth connection to fiber and we have been working very hard on our Domain Manager. We currently offer domain privacy for all Bluehost clients who get a free domain with signup or who purchase additional domains. Our Domain Manager will make it easy for clients to purchase and manage all of their domains.
What would you say is Bluehost.com #1 asset to its customer base? Quality service at a discounted rate.
Where do you see Bluehost.com and the web hosting industry in three years? I see Bluehost continuing on its’ current path for the next 3 years. We will continue to gain market share because we are willing to adapt to the constant change associated with doing business on the Internet. I am sure industry will continue to progress as computers continue to get faster and bandwidth continues to get cheaper.
How many customers do you currently have? We currently have 13017 customers with a majority of our users coming in the last 6 months.
Where are your datacenters located? Our office space and data center are located at Canyon Park (Formerly WordPerfect and Novel) in Orem Utah.
What kind of back up power do they provide? Diesel Powered Generators
Do they have multiple backbone connections? Our bandwidth is provided by ELI which does have multiple backbone connections.
What connections do they have? We currently have 150 Mb of bandwidth with large growth capacity.
Do you offer 24/7 support? Our normal support hours are from 6 am to 10 pm MST. We do have emergency support from 10 pm to 6 am MST.
Do you have technicians present 24/7 or 9-5 M-F? 6am to 10pm M-F and 8am – 5pm Saturday.
What is your average turn-around time on a support ticket? Average time is 3 hours.
